AUGUST CALENDAR

Greetings, inmates! The start of August marks two months since the game has opened and we hope you're all getting settled in. Things will remain mostly the same in the prison as a whole this month, but this event introduces an important concept that affects the inmates and will continue to appear throughout the game and have major impact on your character's story arc!

Inmate/guard relations are somewhat tense. The risk of guard brutality is low. The risk of NPC inmate violence is moderate. There is an increasingly negative sentiment from both inmates and guards towards Warden Clark.

MINOR EVENTS

August 1st: Mingle Log - A mingle log with a few optional scenarios will go up. This log is not for the event, but is a good place for general open top levels and day-to-day interactions. We encourage you to make your own individual posts in the log community for the actual event-related dominion stuff.

August 8th: Warden Announcement - The Warden has an announcement about some new rules meant to curb the increasing threat of inmate violence in the prison.

August 22: IC Job Assignments - IC jobs will be shuffled around. Assignments will be drawn live in the Discord chat.

MAJOR EVENT

Our first major event, What Dreams May Come, starts on August 1st and continues until the end of the month.

On the first of August, a low groan can be heard from deep below the ground, coming from the direction of the mountains. Anyone who is in the yard at the time will be able to feel the vibrations in the ground. This will last for a little over a minute.

The anomaly has reached out to touch the minds of the inmates at Obsidian. As it is currently sleeping, it is reaching out from its own dreams to theirs. Even characters who usually have trouble sleeping will find that they easily fall into deep sleep for the remainder of this month, and may feel tired as soon as the sun sets.

Once they fall asleep, the anomaly will interfere with their dreams and introduce them to their dominion instead!

The dominion is an important concept to this game: it symbolizes their budding connection to the anomaly as well as being the center of a character's power. It is a place where they are meant to grow and explore their potential. Think of it more as a pocket dimension that exists within the anomaly than an actual dream. It may gradually change over time, but will mostly be the same from one visit to the next. Throughout the month of August, activity from the anomaly is high and characters will visit their dominion (or someone else's - see below) every night.

What is a dominion?

A dominion is a place of power that belongs to your character. It will manifest as a specific location: perhaps it is somewhere your character longs to be, somewhere they feel at home, or even a place that they are afraid of. For characters in the latter category, these dreams can seem more like nightmares at first, but you can't be hurt inside of your own dominion if you don't want to be.

If they put in the effort they will be able to actively manipulate their dominion - think of a really vivid lucid dream. The dominion will be more inclined to respond to darker and selfish desires, but can be willed into good and selfless things with more effort.

Does the dominion have to be a real place, or a place my character has been?

Nope! It can come from their imagination, as well, or be something from the past or potential future. It doesn't even have to make sense or obey the laws of physics: houses can be floating above the ground, the whole world may appear to be painted, and so on.

What can my character do inside of their dominion?

Initially, not much. Manipulation of the dominion will mostly be unintended and caused by subconscious desires and fears.

If they work at it over the course of the month, they will be able to consciously manifest objects, have powers they don't have in the real world, and even change their physical form into something they'd like better. It's your dominion, go wild!

Will anything my character does in their dominion transfer over to reality? Can the powers they gain there become real powers?

Not yet ;)

Can my character talk to the anomaly?

No, the anomaly cannot be seen or spoken with inside of the dream. Anyone who has been to SHU may feel a similar lingering presence, but no actual interaction with the anomaly is possible at this stage.

Does my character choose their dominion?

Not consciously. It should make sense for that character, but their dominion is a part of their subconscious and may not be what they would have chosen if someone asked them while they were awake.

A character who found a place they really liked before coming to Obsidian my find themselves there again. A character whose greatest desire was riches may find themselves in the lavish mansion they always wanted. A character who was obsessed with technological advances may find themselves on a futuristic spaceship. A character who subconsciously desires to tame and conquer their fears may find themselves in the place they most feared, or somewhere they were victimized.

ICly, there are reasons why a character's dominion would manifest in a certain way, so feel free to go with whatever you want to play with most! OOCly, the dominion should be a place that inspires your character to grow and push both their own limits and the limits of their dominion, so try not to pick something too cozy that your character would be content with from the start (eg. a childhood bedroom).

Can Obsidian be my character's dominion?

Nope. The anomaly wants Obsidian for itself. This is the only place that is off-limits as a character dominion.

Is my character's dominion empty, or can there be other people in it?

It can be as populated or sparse as you'd like! It may have people from your character's past, or just random people. Any NPC people in your character's dominion are just figments of their subconscious, so even if they see their parents in their dominion they won't have actually communicated with their real parents back home.

NPC versions of PCs in game cannot be part of your character's dominion.

What happens when my character wakes up?

They wake up exactly as they normally do, but will feel a pang of longing to go back to their dominion that lasts about an hour and gets more intense as the month goes on.

Can my character visit their dominion again after the month is over?

Yes, but it will take a lot of concentration and meditation on their part. 'Dominion Visit' has been added to the once-per-month rewards characters can receive from the anomaly.

The longer they go between visits, the stronger their feeling of longing will be upon awakening. Perhaps if the Anomaly weren't sleeping so deeply, it would be easier to connect with it...

Can other characters visit my character's dominion?

Yes! It wouldn't be much fun if your character had to hang out by themselves. Any number of characters may be pulled into your character's dominion instead of their own on any given night.

Only the owner of the dominion has any control over it. Any visitors will be subjected to the will of the owner (or if they haven't started to control it yet, the owner's subconscious). Visitors may be harmed, transformed, or brainwashed while in the dominion of another. They may not even be entirely themselves when they arrive (for example: if one character's dominion is an animal sanctuary with no people, visitors may arrive as animals)! No matter what happens there they will wake up in the same condition they were in when they fell asleep (with some emotional scars, perhaps, if things went poorly).

Will our characters remember the visits to their dominions?

All characters will remember their own dominion vividly. Visitors to other dominions might not - players can choose how much or little they recall.

Are there limits to dominion size? I initially imagined it like... a single room or something, but looking at the description again it seems it could be at least a city district, is that right?

Double checking something about this: "even change their physical form into something they'd like better." + "They may not even be entirely themselves when they arrive"

I'm assuming this means that characters appear as they are in their own dominion, and that over the month it can change, while guests can appear as whatever from the start. Or would minor changes to the owner's appearance work as well- like say, Farrah's scaley finger tattoos covering his whole hands while in his dominion? With the scales spreading over the course of the month/as he focuses on it?

Character Name: The Countess

Describe your character's dominion: The Hotel Cortez is a very real place that was the Countess's home for almost a century. It is a high-rise hotel in Los Angeles, built in the 1920s by James Patrick March for the purpose of moneymaking but also murder. Mostly murder. It is a beautiful (if a bit dated) building, entirely done in Art Deco style. Let me know if you want more reference pics, because I fucking love the Cortez's design and have a huge repository of images.

General Event Plotting: There is a staff member at the reception desk during the day, either a stodgy older woman named Iris who has absolutely no time for your bullshit, or a sharp-tongued transgender queen with a shaved head named Liz Taylor. In the evenings, Liz Taylor bartends upstairs in the Blue Parrot Lounge, and her drinks are kick-ass, so please tip well.

Checking in? That's when things get a little weird. The hallways are long and empty, and sometimes seem to take turns that lead to nowhere at all. It feels like you're being watched no matter where you are, even though there's no one to be seen. Look for a camera and you'll find nothing. Only the constant feeling of being watched. In the rooms, lights and radios sometimes flicker on at random, making it almost impossible to get a good night's sleep. There's always the creeping feeling of a hand reaching for you, but never anyone there. Ominous noises and barely-there screams seem to permeate any moment of peace you find. You might even feel like there's something moving in your mattress -- but that's crazy, right? The linens are all impeccably clean, though.

If you manage to snoop around long enough, you'll find a labyrinth of secret passages and doors, hatches that all seem to dump straight down into the basement. Tiny rooms with spikes in the walls, ones that seem to have been bricked up. An entire floor that appears to be inaccessible. Any other guest you might come across seems hopeless and disheveled. They don't seem to talk about anything that makes much sense, and they don't have much interest in you. There are a handful of creepy little blond kids running around in school uniforms, but you'll rarely see more than a glimpse of them rounding the corner.

The Countess can be found in any number of places throughout the building, but often in her penthouse suite, the only modernized room in the joint. She's got plenty of art and music and haute couture to share, and never shies away from a guest. She's the only welcoming person in the building.

Oh, and don't call for room service. You definitely don't want to try the pâté.

Character Name: Abigail Hobbs

Describe your character's dominion: Abigail's dominion is a forest, much like the one she used to hunt in with her father. There's a whole variety of flora and fauna, and deer especially seem to run in abundance, as well as a wide river. If you decide to hunt the deer, they will transform into girls who look uncannily like Abigail as they near death. In the centre of the forest is a hunting cabin, which looks cosy at first glance, but there's a sense of foreboding that comes with it. If you choose to look beneath the surface, you'll find that the cabin is held together by human body parts - and if you go upstairs, as the latest prey (deer or human) is waiting to be skinned. Meanwhile, in the darker corners of the forest, the Wendigo can be seen lurking between the trees.

General Event Plotting:
Abigail will be a little guarded at other people seeing her dominion, feeling that the way in which they perceive her, things they might infer from this place, isn't completely in her control. That said, she will welcome the company. I'm happy to play up either an idyllic side or the sinister side of the forest, depending on what your character would want their view of Abigail to be. In the show it's Will's dream to teach Abigail to fish so I'd love if someone could teach her that here. Otherwise there's plenty in terms of hunting, exploring, and discovering parts of Abigail's backstory.

Other Plotting:
I don't have any other specific plans, but I'm down with anything at all.

Character Name: Squalo Superbi

Describe your character's dominion: I'm considering it be a city converging with the ocean. His dominion will be a copy of (a part of) Palermo, everything being ever so slightly off in that nightmarish way. Most of it feels like houses having been copy-pasted one after another - walking in one direction will cause the landscape to repeat itself in a pattern and will ultimately lead to the sea, no matter which way you try to go. The middle of the domain has a warehouse holding something like a mechanic's shop though it's just a front -- venturing deeper past the rows of tools and several disassembled vehicles will lead you to a living space with dusty furniture and blood stains on the carpet. There are no people there (for now) and the place feels increasingly claustrophobic and dangerous with every passing minute; going further away from the center there will be some signs of life -- cars, people, etc -- but always in the distance and muffled, just a bit too far to make out or hear anything clearly. The further away from the warehouse the less details to reality there is, to the point where buildings in certain areas might fall like empty theater decorations when touched. The harbor and beach once again feel more real but uninhabited; there are no ships to be seen either. The coastline seems to stretch indefinitely, turning the city into a tiny island, and there are tunnels leading down under the sea, as if the water is held up by an invisible force.

General Event Plotting: Squalo won't particularly want visitors (but I do!) and he will also initially be terrified of the place (one day maybe he will make it better). The warehouse has drinks and weapons stashed in a few places (too bad it's not possible to bring it out). Exploring it might yield different results; nothing horrible will happen if someone just tries to chill or tinker around with the parts and tools, however checking the fridge or the upstairs might turn up some body parts or similarly gruesome displays along with old pictures or whatever else pieces of Squalo's past that his subconscious decides to put there. The ocean will be gradually coming closer until it looms over the buildings, and the sharks just might jump out of the water walls trying to grab someone walking around. At this point, touching the water will cause it to come crashing down, causing the sensation of drowning after which you will find yourself back at the warehouse in complete eerie silence, as if everything had simply reset. If choosing to stay in the warehouse, water will eventually find its way in shaped as tendrils or frozen spikes, trying to drown and/or skewer anyone inside. Unusually aggressive sharks may also try to break in. I hope this is fever-dream-like enough and I'm doing this right fff.

Other Plotting: For general day to day plotting, please refer to this comment, it's still fresh! :^)

This sounds incredibly creepy and I love it. Reno is terrified of drowning and he will have a lot to say about Squalo afterward.

That said, he is very interested in the workshop and tools, seeing what's being built.

Character Name: Villanelle
Describe your character's dominion: Villanelle's dominion is going to be a sprawling estate*, patchworked together from fancy homes she's killed people in and places she's seen in magazines or on tv, as well as some elements of her old apartment in Paris. It's gaudy, but empty. No other people. No real substance to it. Just gorgeous architecture, luxurious furniture, and closets full of designer clothes. All the things she thinks she wants and subsequently gets bored of after, like, five minutes because she has a void in her that can't be satisfied.

(*I made a pinterest board which is super duper under construction still, but you can check it out for the general aesthetic.)

General Event Plotting: Visitors are welcome! Feel free to wander around, break shit, raid her fridge... Beware of poison! There are also a variety of weapons just sort of stashed around (in cabinets or drawers, taped to the back or underside of furniture, in vases, seriously wherever) for easy access. There is one room that contains a large half-finished sketch of a woman with curly dark hair; the woman is angled away from the viewer and has no visible facial features. Anyone who sees it might start catching glimpses of a similar woman—in reflections, in the distance through windows, disappearing around corners—always with her back to them and impossible to catch up to. Alternatively, instead of showing up as a regular "guest," it's possible to appear within one of the rooms based on Villanelle's crime scenes and become part of a reenactment of said crime. This will likely involve being either murdered or grievously injured! Luckily it's just a dream.

Other Plotting: I'll intro Villanelle during the mingle log, so if you want to plot first meetings or anything that would be cool too! Reputation plotting comment is here for easy reference.

General Event Plotting: Quentin will be hellbent on believing that this place is real and that he's one step closer to finding Fillory -- someone to feed into that, or someone to gently try to shake him out of it is good. Visitors always welcome, he'll love playing King for everyone.
Other Plotting: I'm looking for people Quentin can keep tabs on, people who think they can mess with his head and ultimately get comeuppance, people who actually mess with his head and don't get away with it, friends, people he can guide through the system--you name it, I want it.

Character Name: Steve Harrington

Describe your character's dominion: Welcome to the Starcourt Mall, the most happening place in Hawkins, Indiana! It’s your average, run of the mill shopping mall with all the bells and whistles and looks like it’s caught in the mid-80’s with its design and bright neon signs adorning almost every shop entrance. Funny thing is, some of the shops are closed and their lights dark, but that doesn’t seem to bother the faceless crowd. Easy to brush off as something that could be all in the imagination, people are milling around doing their shopping like normal.

Upon closer examination, it’s easy to see that everyone is completely faceless. They don’t seem to realize everyone else is faceless, too, carrying on a normal conversation that isn’t normal at all. The only words that are spoken are the same Russian phrases with different inflections and intensities. To make matters even worse, you’re late for work, enjoy your new uniform. Scoops Ahoy is waiting for you!

The interior of the ice cream parlor is more bright and vibrant than the rest of the mall and the weird thing about the view is that in the middle of the food court which you can see from the window there’s just a pool. Yep. A pool. Funny thing about it is that the light seems to disappear around it, the only sort of illumination coming from the lights in the pool’s walls.

General Event Plotting:All visitors welcome to the foodservice hell where there’s an onslaught of noise, a neverending queue, and something eerie lurking in the break area in the back of the shop. There’s a decent bit of mall to explore and what’s with all those faceless people? And what about those dark shops? Weeeeird.

Character Name: AM (Alan Masterson)
Describe your character's dominion: I don't have a completely solid idea but I do know that at least part of it will feature torture of some sort. I am thinking likely it will span his massive estate (He was a very rich CEO after all) and feature a lot similar to it, but will also take on some very computer-esque components... and the torture chamber will be a lot bigger and more complex.

While some parts of the estate will look mostly like they do in real life (with fancy rooms and plush beds and large screen TVs and a huge swimming pool), other parts won't. Several rooms will look as though they belong inside of a computer, sprawling with wires and components.

AM may even find himself merging with some of this, becoming part-cyborg in this Dominion. But idk.

The torture room will be much bigger and feature every implement known to man. Blood will stain the walls, and there will probably be some NPC victims who are missing limbs and such.

General Event Plotting: Visitors could absolutely enjoy the more mundane parts of the estate, go swimming in the pool, grab a drink in the bar, etc. Sure, if you stay away from the weird parts, you'll have a swell time.

But obviously the draw will be the torture chamber and/or the computer parts or something. If you want to be a torture victim, now is your chance! All the worst things can happen! Or you can help him torture others.

Other Plotting: AM has yard duty until the next job change so idk do you want to bother him while he's mowing the lawn or something?

Describe your character's dominion: Rook's dominion is the underground bunker of one Richard "Dutch" Roosevelt. (In-game, it serves as the starting point after the intro, and Dutch speaks to the player throughout the game.) It's a decently sized bunker, complete with a 'war room', a bedroom, an armory, and a medical room/science lab idk.
General Event Plotting: Visitors absolutely welcome!! Visitors will occasionally see an older, bald man with glasses and a camo coat yelling into a CB radio. They may also 'wake up' on the floor with their wrists zip-tied together around a metal bed frame. The man might be standing at a nearby radio listening to a creepy broadcast about escapees being "with his family", and something about the Collapse? And a Reaping? What might those be? :^) Alternatively, he might be sitting in a metal folding chair staring at your character when they wake up.

SPOILERS for Far Cry 5 Visitors may also see aforementioned man dead on the floor, and Joseph Seed may be walking around instead, or even sitting in front of your character when they 'wake up'. They may also hear the sound of nuclear explosions/bombs going off, trees falling, and screaming from outside. The bunker may shake, too. End spoilers!

Things of interest your character can find: a bulletin board with conspiracy theory level amounts of scribbles notes, sketches, and photos of the Seed family with string connecting all of them; a message scratched into the wall "The world is a diagonal... I am the balancing point", and a "don't drop the soap" gouged into the wall near the entrance next to a shower.

Other Plotting: I am down for anything and everything! If you'd like Rook somewhere, just let me know! Rook's job this month is janitor duty, hooray for him. Feel free to bully him a little.

BILLY

Character Name: Billy Hargrove
Describe your character's dominion: Billy's dominion is his favorite beach back in California. There aren't any other people there; he has the beach all to himself. There is a bit of an unpleasant storm brewing in the distance, and if you get too close to it you might find ashes raining down on you. Billy will just be trying to ignore the storm and focus on getting to have fun at the beach again. But, he can't ignore the things that frighten him forever, so he'll have to confront that part of himself sooner or later.

Everyone who shows up on the beach will be dressed appropriately for a day in the hot sun. Walk into the storm and you'll get to meet Flayed Billy, physically identical to Billy in every way but he'll talk ominously about ending the world and might try to attack you. Go towards the sun and regular old "not nice but not actively murderous" Billy will be there instead.
General Event Plotting: I would LOVE visitors, whether they want to chill out and come surfing with regular Billy or come have a chat with the horrible monster that took over his body for a while. Billy will be trying to manipulate his dominion but isn't going to have any luck just yet. I want him to work towards accepting what happened to him and facing his fear of the Mind Flayer before he's able to do anything cool.
Other Plotting: He's on yard duty so anything with that. I'd also like to have him start building relationships here, especially with anyone in Block A. He is young and dumb and naive so please come take advantage of him!

Character Name: Felix
Describe your character's dominion: It'll be his own private tropical island, looking quite like this. There's space enough for his singular and obnoxiously ornate home, large windows, a pool, and a TV that takes up the better part of an entire wall, with a huge selection of blu-rays just nearby. For Felix, a place like this has always been a dream — it's his retirement plan, basically.

Deeper into the house, in the spaces not visible to the numerous windows, there are rooms with less pleasant designs and intentions. There are weapons hidden behind secure doors, drains in the floor for easy clean-up, walls full of carefully sharpened knives, go-bags and an array of identities all in place. He doesn't expect to have any visitors on it, but there might be one or two wandering around at a distance at any given time, disappearing before any PC (Felix included) can ever flag them down, even if they're chased around corners that should be dead-ends. Additionally, there may be persons - unknown, or from Felix's past, who may pop up and try to extract revenge for what Felix has done to them. If your character is quick enough to convince the NPC they're not with Felix, they might be able to learn a little bit more about what he's done to deserve that revenge.

General Event Plotting: Would definitely like visitors! They can have a pleasant time swimming around and enjoying the view of a perpetual Perfect Sunset, watch a favored movie and talk about nothing with consequence. Or, they can bypass Felix's security to see a hallway streaked with blood in the aftermath of Felix taking down someone who made their way there with intent to hurt him, before he's gotten rid of the body. Felix could even mistake your character for someone with ill intent and there could be some violence between them. Heck, they could have violence just because they think fighting would be the ideal fun-time activity on a paradise island.

Other Plotting: hmu! Felix is still new to the place and is looking for people to butter up and manipulate befriend.

Character Name: Margo Hanson

Describe your character's dominion: A desert island, rugged and uninhabited at first. The shore is as much rock as it is sand, and while it's warm in the sun, the water is cold and rough. The rocky shore grows into large, damp caves at points, and a forest stretches upward behind the beach, too gnarly at first to navigate unequipped. If you manage to however, you might find some strange structures, like the bones to a castle that hasn't been build yet. It won't take someone familiar with astronomy to realize that this island isn't on Earth - come nightfall, there are two moons overhead. Margo's dominion is one of Fillory's Outer Islands, where she spent most of her childhood daydreams. In those daydreams though it looked a little more Sandals and a lot less Castaway. Maybe it's a metaphor for how cold and emotionally closed off Margo's grown up to be, or maybe her childhood dream world is actually just not very nice I-R-L. One of the two.

General Event Plotting: Visitors welcome! There's not much to do other than normal non-summery beach activities, though. Maybe throw some clumpy brown sand, climb a rock, find a cool stick. Knock yourself out (just not with the stick). At the start she'll probably be doing much of the same, or maybe just taking out her usually well-hidden rage on the landscape. I'm starting pretty bare bones with this for a lot of dorky character reasons, but I'm happy to plot whatever if you wanna come play marooned pirates with a very angry woman.

Other Plotting: Margo's just working in the library this month and absolutely not trying to get any illegal contraband businesses off the ground 👀. Also she's just been lightly stabbed by Michael in said library, which is probably public news, so feel free to know that happened.

Character Name: Ardbert
Describe your character's dominion: Tentatively considering Kholusia, an area in Ardbert's canon that has a cliff overlooking meadows, farmlands, a couple of tiny villages, and a city built on the sea. And perhaps with the same everlasting light effect as well, just weird, yellowish auroras in the sky all day, every day. It would feel comfortable, yet something slightly wrong (it's the auroras), so he would want to fix it somehow. Even if it's my favorite idea at the moment, I'm still considering more places, and perhaps make up my own.

Another potential idea for Ardbert's domain would be the Ronkan ruins in Rak'tika Greatwood, because Ardbert and friends in canon know Ronkan spells, and I think it's a fitting place for him to slowly come into his own powers in this AU. And there would definitely be a lot for him to fix if I do go with this idea, given the general mess of things-- a lot of potential symbolism involved, etc. The everlasting light would also be available here as another layer of "this doesn't feel right", even if many parts of the place would be shaded by trees.

General Event Plotting: Definitely would like visitors! How would people feel about becoming one of the playable races when they enter his domain? Whether or not it'd be something cribbed from OG canon or an entirely different space I create, it might be something fun to consider-- but of course it'd be opt-out, and people can just play their characters as unchanged.

For a more horror-type experience however, I'm also considering not going for the playable races and having those interested become sin eaters in his domain thanks to the weird, everlasting light condition of the sky. Or, y'know, not, it's entirely opt-out bc sin eaters are still freaky af.

Other Plotting: My ooc intro post is here where we can plot about other things o/

I'm canon-blind, but the ruins seem like they'd be a pretty cool in the way that they can grow and change with his powers in there. And I really like the idea of being one of the playable races - or sin eaters tbqh since body horror is fun stuff. I'm kind of curious how Ardbert would react to someone showing up as one, would it be something peaceful or more intense of a response?

Character Name: Kain Highwind
Describe your character's dominion: Kain's domain is a massive mountain in the middle of nowhere. The sky overhead is always a perfect, vibrant blue with white puffy clouds. The land is lush and empty of people, just populated with wildlife and nature. There's a cliffside on that mountain where one can get an excellent view of this scene below. It's overall a really gorgeous, almost idyllic scene overall, the kind of place someone would go to get away from it all. This is a domain for a loner for sure! Sometimes, Kain even finds himself transformed into a dragon, or having a pair of wings sprout from his back... but it really depends on the overall mood/mindset he's in.

But there are some weird things. Climbing up the mountain itself is a real challenge, it can be rocky and hard to find hand or footholds, and rockslides are pretty common. There's a creepy cave entrance, which Kain will outright avoid as much as possible, but it's there and there's definitely something both unsettling and compelling about it. Oh and this whole place is pretty much overrun with the undead, all kinds of zombies, monsters, and ghouls creeping about the mountain. It's not necessarily a constant problem, and gets worse at night, but they're something to watch out for, anyway! These creatures are most definitely manifested from various source material, so you might get zombies from various films, etc, that Kain is likely to have seen.
General Event Plotting: Visitors, YES! It could go as calm or nightmarish as anyone would be up for. Maybe they end up flying around, or just admiring the view and chilling. Maybe a fight against the zombies and other undead fiends. Or maybe they get around to entering that eerie cave. Anything is possible!
Other Plotting: I don't have specific plans, so I'm really open to anything here! Kain is still kind of getting used to life here, mostly trying to keep to himself and stay out of trouble. He can use either friends/allies or someone to shake him up. I'm up for positive and negative CR both, so bring it on!

Character Name: Farrah
Describe your character's dominion: His dominion is a beautiful, lush forest that is permanently in the golden hour. Except not quite. The shadows are too deep and there's a splotchy blurriness to distant objects as if they're a painted background or like someone put a paintbrush filter over some adjustment layers. It's teeming with life, with all the docile critters you might expect (deer, rabbits, squirrels, birds, etc) and way too many predators (a pack of wolves, panthers, weasels, eagles, foxes). There's a subtle sharpness and wrongness to all of the animals. Their teeth, claws, and eyes are a little bigger than they ought to be, and even if they're not looking right at you, it still feels like they're watching you and hate you. Even the adorable little bunnies and fluttering sparrows hate you. There's a gentle but chilly breeze. Several bubbling brooks of black ink lead to a lake. Some of the shore is rocky outcroppings while other sections have beaches made of iridescent black pebbles. Sometimes the water ripples like there's something large and long swimming just under the surface. Heading away from the lake in any direction eventually leads back to it.

General Event Plotting: Visitors welcome! Farrah would be delighted to share his foreboding forest! The animals here won't actually attack visitors unless they're bothered, but the carnivores might stalk you. They'll all fight to the death rather than run; at any given time, there's at least one struggle between predator and prey somewhere in the forest. Everyone bleeds thick red paint. The creature in the pond never surfaces. If someone decides to swim, it circles around them while staying just out of reach. Farrah will stick near the pond at first, talking to the lake creature and drawing a swirly shape on just about everything, including himself. Over the month, he'll become scaly like a lizardman and insist the creature in the water is responding to him talking to it. It's his buddy :)

Other Plotting: Got no plans at the moment! Although I would kinda love for Farrah to visit other dominions and try to draw things from them when he wakes up. General cr/plotting comment here, and info about Farrah is here.

Character Name: Reno
Describe your character's dominion: The main area is a large strip club. Full bar, plenty of room for dancing, dim lighting and loud music. But there always seems to be extra shadows at the periphery and movement that seems unnatural, more than just crowds or dancers. Like something is there -- following you, coming to get you, something dark and sinister and you feel compelled to search for it. But it's never there when you look. Beyond that, there's an elevator that purports to reach 60 floors. It won't open on all of them, but it will lead to other familiar places for Reno... his old apartment with a full view of the city above Plate, random parts of the Shinra building, a helipad. Not that there's anywhere else to go. But that strange shadow just out of view is always there.

General Event Plotting: Visitors welcome! Reno's "club" is all about pleasure seeking, almost compulsively so with how pressured and loud and "in your face" everything seems to be. If you're looking for a distraction from everything, this is it. And if you weren't... well, you've certainly found one.

Other Plotting: Prison newbie so definitely open to all the mingling, getting to know the other inmates, exploring his boundaries (and everyone else's).

This icon is from a scene in Felix's canon where he is grumpy because his job interfered with him hooking up with a blonde, bisexual bridesmaid. Which in his words, is "the unicorn of club girls".

So basically Felix absolutely wants a piece of this club, though I'm looking forward to the way the lingering shadows will set him on edge too much to properly enjoy it. It'd probably warm him up to Reno if he gets to interact with him in this kind of environment tho, haha.

Character Name: Dinah Lance
Describe your character's dominion: I'm thinking Roman's club back in Gotham City. It's a pretty standard club from the exterior, just a plain brick building. The inside is lavish (for a working nightclub): lots of red and black pleather, gold accents and masks. Lots of masks. There's a large dance floor, a well stocked bar and several poles on platforms. Directly opposite the entrance is a stage with several steps leading up to it. A large (plastic)hand hand on either side points to centre stage.
The club is really busy, populated with people out to have a good time. However, no matter what you do, these people will completely ignore you. They won't even acknowledge your existence. You could blow the place up and they wouldn't even look in your direction.

Leading off the main room are several doors. Open them at your own peril. You might find faceless bodies hanging from hooks, bloodied and dripping. There might be a stash of guns. There's definitely big bundles of drugs. Nothing is particularly hidden or locked away. In fact, it might start you wondering just how much Dinah knew all along.

As midnight strikes, those people who were ignoring you? Not so much. Weapons are pulled from the most unlikely places and they're turning to face you. You better be able to run, or fight.

General Event Plotting: Definitely come and visit Dinah. This club had been her second home for a long time, and loneliness and isolation really starts to grate where you're in a place filled with people who ignore you.
She's always a little bit withdrawn towards people she doesn't know and being back in this oh-so familiar environment won't be helping with that one. She'll probably be quite snappy if asked about the stashes behind the doors, but she's not going to stop you (or herself) from helping yourself to as much alcohol you like. Turn her nightmare into a rave? Help her fight a random crowd of armed club goers?
You might even get her to sing - and if you do, watch out for glass shattering. That canary cry isn't powerful enough to kill yet, but it's definitely loud enough to smash cocktail glasses. On the downside, it exhausts her completely too, and once she's 'cried', she'll be down for the count.

Other Plotting: Dinah's a total newbie to Obsidian and to prison life in general. She needs an introduction to it and I am down for anything, positive, negative or somewhere in between.

Part of Reno's dominion is very similar and he'll feel right at home, at least until people start shooting at him. He will absolutely help her fight off randos.

And whenever he does find out she can sing, he'll try to coax her to do it. First out of curiosity, second because she's amazing at it and he'll be super impressed. Third because eventually it's going to turn into that canary call that is both fascinating and frightening.

Character Name: Abel
Describe your character's dominion: Abel's dominion is relatively simple. It's the hangar he used, occasionally with NPC's of people he knows from there (they or reappear by going through a certain door near the back), but the only ship around within it is his own. Everyone is wearing either a white uniform or a black one, Abel and any visiting characters included.

Additionally, rather than the hangar opening to any sight familiar to him, the view beyond is open space. It's perfectly safe to walk out onto, though feels a little insubstantial, similar to walking on a trampoline. As the month goes on, Abel will learn to fly out there, and can rearrange the stars in the distance to his liking.

One thing he will not have control over is that there is a plane flying out in space, and he can identify it as the one that he was accused of tampering with, and which landed him in Obsidian.

General Event Plotting: Sure! Anyone is invited to come hang out in space!
Other Plotting: Abel is brand new! And block A, definitely wanna get some plotting in with him since I have no plans thus far.

Character Name: The Director (aka Leonard Church)
Describe your character's dominion: The Director's dominion resembles a large hospital. Inside the hospital there is just one room with a patient inside—most of the other rooms are labs. The one patient is a woman named Allison. She appears to be in the process of dying, but the way she talks, she's actually being held captive here. Allison makes it clear that she's meant to be missing her legs, but in appearance, she still has her original lower limbs.

In the labs, NPC technicians are working hard under the Director's orders to clone a new body for her. Although she merely needs a set of legs, the Director seems convinced she can be transferred to a new, more youthful, more complete body. The lab technicians complete their assignment night after night, but the Director seems unable to convince himself to swap Allison's consciousness out for this body's existing consciousness.

In addition to Allison's room and the labs are the Director's quarters. This room appears to be devoted to memorializing Allison's existence. There's just one photo featuring a red-haired little girl along with the two of them. The rest feature either Allison alone, or Allison with a youthful Director. On the computer's screen there is a video running where Allison, wearing a military uniform, explains that she has to leave.

Once one enters the hospital, it seems impossible to leave. Wandering the hallways always leads one back to Allison's room. The longer one spends there, the more they will find themselves also mourning Allison's untimely demise.

General Event Plotting: Visitors wanted!

  • If visitors decide to help Allison escape, they will return to her room to find her still in bed, begging to be released.
  • If someone were to destroy the Director's room, soon enough all of Allison's pictures would restore themselves to be back where they were before.
  • Basically anything else that disrupts the Director's mourning will be unsuccessful, so keep that in mind.
Other Plotting: The Director is in block C and is fairly new! Feel free to interrupt his antisocial ass at any point.

Character Name: Counselor Aiden Price

Describe your character's dominion: The Counselor’s dominion is a hospital setting different from the one where he worked with the Director. The patients are all very old and seem to be almost dying, but they are asleep except for one who seems to know you personally. The door for that patient’s room will start leaking blood that follows your every movement and sticks to your clothes if you decide not to enter for a long time.
The patient’s primary comfort is to be able to talk about his life story, reminiscing his youth and family life, complimenting your beauty. The story changes every time (it knows the minds of the characters that visit although Price doesn't necessarily know them too on the same depth, aka you can use it however you like to center it around your character's perception), but the old man’s initial loving tone gets increasingly cold and stern for no reason, humiliatingly trying to explain you that you have no idea how to do your job, that HE knows how it works, and that you’re not human. Once locked with him, you instinctively know that it is impossible to leave until one of you dies, and the more he talks, the more his face starts falling apart trying to literally suck the essence out of you with his tongue while your body, too, becomes unrecognizable. The only way to get to safety is to kill him. After you do, you are finally able to exit the room, but you notice that all the other sleeping patients have turned into rag dolls and you’re alone. This scenario seemingly repeats every time.

General Event Plotting: Price welcomes visitors gladly, and insists to bring them in the room with the patient, claiming that he asked about them, deliberately wanting to unleash that scenario on them. He will hide in a nearby room and observe from the other side of a two-way mirror, monitoring and documenting your reaction. Once you come out of the room, if you have had an entertaining enough reaction he will gift you a suitcase with a bionic arm for you to use and apply whenever and wherever you want.
There are plenty of bugs crawling all over the walls and furniture, and the only distractions from boredom that you can find if you decide not to talk to that patient is to either capture them and/or squish them, or play with two colouring books: one’s imagery depicts animals, mostly birds, and the other depicts cartoonish personifications of single human body parts. The more you go through the pages, some of which are already coloured, the more deformed and dismembered the subjects become. Or you can kill patients in their sleep, but it's boring. The phone will sometimes ring, the display will say the call comes from the Director, but you will only hear gibberish.

Other Plotting: hmu. Price is in Block B.
