reputations & plotting meme

Greetings, inmates!

The purpose of this meme is two-fold: one, to plot and plan threads with the other players in the game! That part is self-explanatory. You are encouraged to use this meme to plot closed logs with other players as there is no group intro log.

And two: to start feeling out a daily routine for your characters, what kind of relationships they have with the guards and NPC inmates, and what kind of reputation they have overall! Even new arrivals will start to get a reputation pretty quickly, so don't worry if your character isn't established yet.

This sort of background planning affects things like: the reputation each block has, characters that may be punished more or less than others, how easily characters will be able to bribe guards, which characters might be pegged as good potential snitches by the guards, and so on!

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: He acts like he obeys the rules. Eliot does enough that he doesn't necessarily get outwardly pinged as someone to watch, but he has no intentions of really following them. The guards probably know this, too, but since Eliot doesn't go out of his way to be disruptive it's not TOO MUCH of a deal.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: 100% dealing contraband. Eliot wants to establish himself as The Guy to go to when you want something. I actually have a little contraband shopping list if you need ideas of what to ask him for. This won't really start for a couple weeks, since he has to lay down the foundation for dealing it without incident, but maybe it can get your wheels spinning.

Also, he definitely enjoys getting a little frisky in the library, or maybe the laundry room, or wherever he can find a space unwatched.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: No, but it will probably happen.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: Very social. Eliot can't function without talking to people, so when he's not in his cell, he'll be finding people to talk to.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Definitely a leader. He's seemingly lazy but he's charismatic and knows what he wants.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Making deals with people, making eyes at Quentin Coldwater, being a bitch in the corner with Margo. You know. The usual stuff. He won't necessarily enjoy going outside so you're more likely to find him in the common areas indoors.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: The guards will like that, as said before, Eliot isn't really disruptive. He doesn't make scenes and he doesn't throw up a fuss when they tell him to do something, even if he obviously doesn't enjoy it. They dislike that he's always got some sort of scheme and he's hard to catch out on it, so he's a little frustrating.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: Ideally in his own block, he's perceived as one of the top dogs, and he'd like his authority within Block A to be recognized by the leaders in the other blocks. But overall, Eliot can be a bit polarizing. He's blunt with his words and if he doesn't like you then he doesn't like you. People might like him because, again, he's charismatic and if he DOES like you, then he'll keep you out of trouble or help you out. But people might also think he's arrogant or useless.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: He's been to a Creed concert PCs might hear rumours that Eliot is perhaps sleeping with guards (which is false, but not unbelievable). He's potentially been involved in at least two murders. He's "cursed" people that have pissed him off or crossed him, and that's how he got so powerful in the drug trade.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: High King of Cell Block A! I've got some vague plots worked out where Eliot ends up actually not being running the show but he's sort of the face of the operation. I'm fine with exploring both a rise and a fall from this power, and honestly, I try not to plan too much ahead because I really enjoy when things happen organically. Most of what I want has already been said. He's your go-to guy when you want shit you can't get in prison.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: He thinks it's stupid. Enough said.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: All of it. He needs to make nice with the top figures in other blocks, and eventually get dealers under him in all blocks to make it easier. Also, of course, negative CR is great. I love starting off CR on uneven footing and having it grow to something on the positive side. I don't want any aggressive negative CR yet but you know, you know.

CR You Can Offer: All of the above. Like I said, Eliot can be easily loved or hated, and I'm here for all your needs from him.

Current Plans: Working on getting his "business" going.
