reputations & plotting meme

Greetings, inmates!

The purpose of this meme is two-fold: one, to plot and plan threads with the other players in the game! That part is self-explanatory. You are encouraged to use this meme to plot closed logs with other players as there is no group intro log.

And two: to start feeling out a daily routine for your characters, what kind of relationships they have with the guards and NPC inmates, and what kind of reputation they have overall! Even new arrivals will start to get a reputation pretty quickly, so don't worry if your character isn't established yet.

This sort of background planning affects things like: the reputation each block has, characters that may be punished more or less than others, how easily characters will be able to bribe guards, which characters might be pegged as good potential snitches by the guards, and so on!

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: At the moment, she's trying to obey the rules and keep her head down. If there's an opportunity to skirt around the rules that would benefit her and not get her into trouble, though, she'll take it.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: Mostly sneaky things, pushing at boundaries, rather than anything flagrant. Once she learns what she can and can't get away with, she might become a bit more relaxed - or if anything happens that necessitates disobedience for her survival.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Nope, she's brand new.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: She tends to keep to herself just because she's trying not to do anything that might get herself hurt. She is quite a social person really though and will be happy to strike up conversation, even if she isn't always the one to initiate it.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: A follower, who is actively looking for guidance and a way to survive here

What might they be doing on an average day?: She spends a lot of her time reading. She'll only really spend time in the common room or the recreation area if she's confident there won't be too much trouble for her to avoid, but she does like placing herself in a corner and watching what's going on.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: The guards would like that Abigail is quiet and polite and generally doesn't cause trouble. They might also have a soft spot for her as a young and vulnerable girl in an unfortunate situation. On the other hand, they might find her a little unnerving/creepy, especially as it's ambiguous about how much she was coerced into the crimes she was committed of, and whether she's actually only acting quiet and vulnerable and could actually do something unexpected.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: She won't have much of a reputation yet as she's still a new arrival, but she's been deliberately trying to keep quiet and stay out of trouble so far, so other inmates might think she's a nice enough person to be around on the one hand, or someone who would be easily pushed around and can be messed with on the other.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: There's the whole cannibalism aspect of her case, which was widely publicised. Rumours/deliberations about whether she's completely innocent and was forced to aid her father in his crimes, or whether she was a perpetrator in her own right, and how far being sweet and vulnerable is an act.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: My long term goal is for a corruption arc that slowly destroys her remaining innocence and helps her embrace the darkness in her. Exactly how that happens, I'm not sure yet.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: She's curious about it, but at the moment she doesn't really know much about it - she will actively want to connect to it as a means of exploring herself though

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Anything and everything! Mentors, friends her own age, rivals/enemies, lovers, good and bad influences, people she can manipulate and who can manipulate her - I'm good with anything, give me all the CR

CR You Can Offer: She's an easy option if your character would want to be protective of someone. She's also very much someone who tries to mould herself to the image of what the other person wants her to be, so she could easily be a good influence/symbol of innocence for another character, or just as easily an accomplice or someone to lead astray. She's a good choice for a daughter/little sister figure in general too.

Current Plans: No concrete plans yet, I'm winging it!

IC Information

Name: Margo Hanson
Block: A
Sentence: 40 years
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Brand spanking new

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: Rule-skirter. The law is for other people, darling. Of course she'd rather stay in her block than be sent to SHU, so she plays it as smart as she can, but she's never let a silly thing like a rule keep her from doing anything. Which is exactly why her juvenile record took up a whole drawer at the LAPD. If something's illegal here at Obsidian? Peep her doing it.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: Margo and her best friend, Eliot, have a little contraband operation (drugs, weapons, the fun stuff), so that's the main thing. She's almost always got something on her that she isn't allowed to have, whether it's tucked into her underwear or her mattress or her empty eye socket. And while she isn't prone to unprovoked violence (verbal evisceration is more of her thing), she'll definitely punch back hard and rough someone up if she needs to.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: No, but only because she's new.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: Margo is social, but for a purpose. She strives to have a thumb on everyone around her, and keeping up with the hot gossip is one way to do that. She'll play friendly, then go repeat everything you just said to her friends. Welcome to Mean Girls: Prison Edition.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: A leader. Margo enters all situations fully expecting to dominate them, and so far she's rarely failed to follow through. It isn't automatic, though - her whole life she's had to fight her way to the top, cracking any skull (figuratively or literally) that she needs to do it. She doesn't back down or take no for an answer.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Eavesdropping while flipping through a magazine. Sneaking cigarettes. Spying on people. Watching TV. Trying to alter her jumpsuit into something more fashion-forward. And whatever she's doing, there's a not insubstantial chance that Eliot or Quentin are nearby, serving as her arm candy even if they absolutely do not realize it.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: Look, Margo is a very beautiful woman, and she knows it. She's been using it to her advantage since she was fifteen years old, and it turns out even some of the biggest, toughest prison guards will do what you want if you whisper the right thing in their ear. Of course, her role in the contraband ring and her hot-and-cold attitude make her just as unpopular among others. Sure, she flirted with you the other night when she needed your keys, but now she's cursing the ground your grandmother was buried in? There's something wrong with this chick.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: Bitchy. Fake. Mouthy cunt with a temper. Definitely up to something, don't trust her.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: She smuggles drugs in her eye. She's fucking the guards. She's fucking [insert any human being]. She once killed a man with a stiletto. She once killed eight men with a stiletto. She lost her eye in San Quentin. People call her the Destroyer because she doesn't leave any part of her victims behind. Oh, and she said something really awful about your mama.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: I want her to go from "I want to control these people" to "I want to protect (some of) these people", pretty much. So even though relationships right now are likely to be adversarial or contentious, and Margo finds little use for friends other than the two she currently has, I'm toying with an arc that changes the motivation behind her need for leadership. Right now, she thinks she's tough. She's hot shit who, with an exception and a half, doesn't need anybody and doesn't care about anybody. It's a survival instinct from her youth, and I want to break it to pieces.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: Definitely more on the curious side, though a bit wary. She wants to know more, but she doesn't want it to fuck with her.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Just about everything! Negative CR is of course bountiful, so just pile that right on, whether it's frenemies or rivals or actual sworn foes. And it's hard to become close friends with her, given her layers of "hurt them before they hurt you, you don't need anyone" bullshit, but I'm willing to work at it over time. Everything in between is the cat's pajamas.

CR You Can Offer: Petty bitch to gossip with. Drug and contraband connection. Practical expert on pop culture and primetime television. Hot lady who bats for both teams, but you'd better be on her level. The meanest motherfucker who's ever knocked you down a peg.

Current Plans: None other than what's mentioned up above!

IC Information

Name: Elizabeth "The Countess" March-Drake
Block: C
Sentence: Life
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Two years

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: She obeys most rules, purely for the sake of her own stay, but it's more like she just lives around the rules. She also has no issues exploiting loopholes and lying to cover up her misdeeds, but she's not the type to start trouble just for the sake of it.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: She definitely buys contraband, hides a weapon, and flouts rules about inmate fraternization. Also she still... drinks blood.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Probably once or twice, for short periods of time. Just minor stuff when she arrived.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: Somewhere in between! She's very gracious and good at conversation, and she'll always rescue a lost little lamb, but she doesn't usually introduce herself out of the blue.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: A leader in the sense that she likes to collect people. Usually people she sees darkness in, kindred souls.

What might they be doing on an average day?: The Countess is always presentable. She manages a full face of makeup and done hair every day. She reads, a lot, and likes to watch political dramas on TV. She doesn't usually partake of yard time since it's during the day, but she can be coaxed outside by people who would like to speak to her there. She does coke in the morning and weed at night. Also she makes the best pruno in the joint.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: They like that she's on the quiet side and manages to enthrall people. And they appreciate that they can count on her to take care of the most vulnerable newbies. But they do not like that she usually wants to drink their blood, and also that she's kind of bitchy to them. Not overly, just enough to still be "polite", so they can't really punish her for being snide.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: She probably has sort of a regal reputation, and people should know that they can go to her for help. She'll gladly give it (with strings attached, of course). And she loves all the youngest inmates, she's always there to mother hen them.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: Bitch drinks blood. Bitch is like 100 years old. Bitch was married to a serial killer. Bitch got a fucked up baby. ALL TRUE.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: She wants to have a secure base of people who are willing to take care of her. In the past, Countess has always had a loyal paramour, fawning friends/attendants, and access to all the blood she could spill. Now she needs to start the collection over.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: She's not like, super reverent of it, but she has a healthy respect and gratitude, as the Anomaly is ultimately what keeps her from aging.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Everything? She needs people willing to let her feed on them, but even more than that, she needs people. She loves all the babies, send me your scared little barely-legals who don't think they should be in prison. She will be your mommy. Let's all hang out.

CR You Can Offer: See above.

Sentence: 35 years
How long have they been at Obsidian?: New

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?:
Depends. If they annoy him or get in his way, he'll skirt around or outright ignore them, but he isn't an outright anarchist. He won't do the opposite just to be contrary unless he's proving a point.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?:
He'll deal contraband if he can liberate any. Stealing, obviously. Picking fights if he feels like it. He's like a cat. He's either being lazy or getting into trouble.

Has your character ever been to SHU?:
He's new, so not yet. Give it time.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: He's not the most social, but he can be when he wants something.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?:
Both? He has no problem taking up the lead if it seems like A: no one wants to step up, or B: the current leader is an idiot in his opinion.

What might they be doing on an average day?:
Anything from just lazing about to reading to observing the prison, other prisoners, or the guards. If he's really bored, he'll probably pick fights, but that would be incredibly rare.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?:
Despite disliking people as a whole, Snart is incredibly personable when he wants to be. He would likely strike up idle conversation with the guards if they actually reply, just to pass time or intentionally form a good rapport with them. Keeping himself on their good side would be advantageous to him. He's also mostly lazy and less likely to pick fights than others, so that may be something they appreciate.
They will probably hate the fact that he'll take every opportunity to lift items from literally everyone, guards and inmates alike. He does it just to keep his skills sharp and honestly doesn't even care to keep the items. So they'll likely find the item just lying about on a table in the meal room when he's done with it. He can also be quite mouthy, which could put a damper on his likeability.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?:
He isn't shy to tell someone when they're being stupid, so he might be a bit disliked in that regard. He's loyal, so if he's made any friends or positive relationships, they will know he'll have their back. To those who don't know him, he probably seems like he's an angry person who might stab you if you try to talk to him.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?:
Anything from rumours that he's a serial killer to that he's all talk. Honestly, he won't dispel most rumours.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?:
I guess I'd like him to end up making a few good friends, whether he'll use that word or not to describe them. Either someone to tug on the 'good' side of his personality or the 'dark' side would be interesting.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?:
Leo's very big on facts and proof. Until he's seen its influence, he'll just think everything is a ghost story. He's heard his fair share of ghost stories in prisons.

Plotting Section

CR You Want:
Sibling feels or things that will trigger his protective side. Give him someone to care/worry about. General friends and someone to banter with. Someone to annoy him, please! Someone to get through his icy outer casing.

CR You Can Offer:
Banter, positive and negative. Sparring partner. He's quite prickly at first.

Current Plans:
Just to integrate him into the cellblock and form platonic relationships.

OOC Information

Name: Carbon
Timezone: EST
OOC Limits: None

IC Information

Name: AM (Alan Masterson)
Block: B
Sentence: Life without parole
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Two years

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: He definitely tries to skirt around them when he can.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: He has stolen things from guards (weapons, cable ties, etc.) and has definitely gotten into brawls with inmates. Definitely also beat up a guard at least once. (Note: I will not mention rape in any logs unless you are expressly okay with that, or I give heavy warnings. And will absolutely not play it out without express permission and warnings. I only mention it here because it was definitely part of his string of torture-murders.)

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Yes. Out of his two years he has spent probably three months or so in there.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: It depends. Sometimes he is very much a loner, preferring to just sit quietly and read or watch TV. But he also enjoys manipulating people, so he is quite social when he wants to be.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Definitely a leader. After all, he once led a thriving business, and now hopes to lead it to its demise.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Exercising, definitely. He needs to keep up that physique. Reading, watching shitty TV shows in the common room, and also looking for people who can be his next toy, more or less.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: The guards certainly see AM as bad news and intimidating, especially given the level of his crimes. He is a threat to the guards, given that he has beaten up at least one of them, so they are careful around him. But AM also can be very nice and personable with them, knowing that it will more easily enable him to steal things from them or get favors. AM is a troublemaker a lot of times, hurting other inmates and creating messes, but he also can be quiet and out of the way, just wanting to watch his shitty TV shows or something.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: AM is definitely known by more of the inmates than not, given the high profile of his crimes and his business. This can certainly make him the target of others, but he has mostly been able to hold his own in that sense, so he does have some weird respect from many of them. But the more vulnerable among the population will absolutely fear him, because he has been known to prey upon them.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: You might hear some rumors about how he's actually the devil incarnate or he's a shill for some political party, neither of which are true. They will speculate that he was abused as a kid or was dropped on his head, or was into drugs - again, none of these are true. But you may also hear some incredibly gruesome details about his crimes, which are very likely to be true. Some will say he beat up "a bunch of guards" or even killed them, but that's exaggerated. He beat up at least one, but didn't kill any, nor has he killed any inmates. You might also hear about him preying upon other inmates, which is true in many senses.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: The leader of Cell Block B! With minions who will take the fall for him and basically cater to his whims. Also with a steady pool of people to satisfy his sadistic urges.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: AM thinks it's silly superstition for the most part.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Fellow criminals to buddy up with and do awful things, or discuss awful things! People for him to hate on and possibly hurt, and also people for him to corrupt or lure to his side.

CR You Can Offer: I can offer you a sadistic torturer to satisfy your violent urges. A guy to manipulate others. A guy who is somewhat dry and cynical and will roll his eyes, or on the opposite side, play along with whatever your character wants - depending on what he sees their role as in his life.

Current Plans: Nothing yet!

Name: Kain Highwind
Block: B
Sentence: Life
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Not long, he's a total newcomer.

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: He's overall pretty obedient on the whole, trying to keep to himself and so on. There may be the occasional odd time he sneakily tries to get around a rule, but usually only for a really good reason.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: He follows rules the majority of the time... But there may still be the occasional odd time he sneakily tries to get around a rule, usually only for what he sees as a really good reason, to help someone else, etc.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: No, since he's new!

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: He's VERY introverted and a loner, keeping to himself is his thing for sure!

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: More of a follower at this point.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Just keeping to himself and brooding around mostly, and definitely taking any opportunity he can to exercise.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: Kain is quiet and serious, well-disciplined, and not normally one to cause much trouble. He's got this whole honorable streak to him... or o he tries to be, anyway. He's genuinely remorseful for any terrible things he's done. But he's also got a major jealous streak, and a tendency to be easily manipulated, so he's also likely to end up being pushed around by others more strong-willed. He can be a bit cold and snarky in the wrong sort of mood.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: Kain is fairly new, but his story is obviously known: the bombing of that village being the big thing among other reasons why he's here. A lot of people probably think he's cold and not all that friendly, at the moment, since it takes a lot of time to get to know someone quiet like Kain! Anyone getting to know him well enough will think slightly differently, and see him as a loyal, pensive type.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: All kinds of rumors related to how he ended up here... that he betrayed his friends, and so on. Also that he was brainwashed under some sort of crazy mind control at some sort... it probably all gets to sounding really conspiracy-theory-ish.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: I'm up for seeing how things go, really, but of course, I look forward to a mix of stuff for his reputation! I'm good with people seeing his negative traits and running with those too far, thinking of him as a bad sort... but I'd also like some folks to see the real him too, his good side.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: At the moment, he's wary and unsure, since he's new and trying to get used to things. He kinds of wants nothing to do with it, given things he's been through.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: ANYTHING! Friends and allies would be good for him, whether with similar rigid types, or someone who can drag him out of his shell a bit. Good-natured rivals are also great, as he's got a real competitive streak. Also, I'd love him to make bitter enemies, whether it's people taking advantage of him and manipulating his darker nature, or otherwise tormenting him.

CR You Can Offer: Kain can be a good, but quiet friend to those who take the time to get to know him. He can also get really jealous and get very rivalrous with people who are a lot like him! His friendship with Cecil was this way, a mix of being best buddies but also Kain feeling all jealous about certain things, too. He's also easily manipulated and pulled to the darkness, so I'm up for someone taking advantage of that, too!

Current Plans: Anything goes really! I'm just getting him involved, so I'm up for seeing what happens.

Name: Villanelle

Sentence: life
How long have they been at Obsidian?: just arrived

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: Villanelle has never obeyed a rule in her life. She'll either skirt around them or deliberately and flagrantly break them, depending upon her mood. If she does seem to be playing along, she's probably still up to something.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: Fighting, provoking other characters to fight, damaging prison property, loitering or trying to get into places where she isn't allowed to be, carrying/otherwise possessing contraband (mainly weapons)

Has your character ever been to SHU?: No—though she spent a lot of time in the Hole, which was the equivalent at the prison she was at previously in Russia (minus the proximity to eldritch phenomena).

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: Fairly social. She likes to spend time around people and observe them, figure out what their deal is, pick up expressions and speech patterns and behaviors for her collection of mimicry. She loves fucking with them. But woe to anyone who interrupts her when she wants alone time.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Neither. Villanelle is very much a manipulator, especially one-on-one, but she lacks the patience and other skills to really be a leader. As a follower, she's even worse. She interprets instructions loosely and just does whatever she wants. Ultimately, she's only in it for herself.

What might they be doing on an average day?: People-watching, socializing, causing problems on purpose, watching tv in the common room, running on the track outside and otherwise doing what she can to stay fit

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: She's been incarcerated before and more or less knows the drill. On the other hand, she's mouthy and likes to be a pain in the ass.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: If they saw anything about her in the news, they're probably either intimidated/wary or impressed. If not, she's just the blunt, rude new girl who needs to be put in her place.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: She's an international assassin. She chops dicks off (true) and keeps them as trophies (gross, no). She's in love with the agent who helped put her behind bars.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: Scary bitch. If you want someone roughed up, maimed, or eliminated, she's your girl—for a price. Probably not loyal to any one group.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: Sounds like bullshit.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Negative CR of any kind—from petty bickering (can be one-sided or mutual) to violent rivalry, people who can actually put up with her, vulnerable people to manipulate or corrupt, older mentor/parental figure types (ya girl got issues so bonus points if hot), fellow murder enthusiasts

CR You Can Offer: One of the most annoying people you've ever met + a hair trigger for violent outbursts. Incredibly toxic and possessive if you manage to get close.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Neither, content being follower for safety

What might they be doing on an average day?: Drawing in the common room, library, or other communal place. If not drawing, then reading whatever garbage he can get. Exercising in his cell when his cellmate is out.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?:
Like: doesn't make trouble, willing to do art for them for free
Dislike: he's french, his drawings can be creepy, weird how he's just sitting around drawing

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: Not sure at this point. He's not openly aligned with anyone, not acting as if he's a threat to anyone's status, but not obviously fearful either.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: Boy's rich, OR he's not rich anymore because they took away all his money when he got locked up. Might've done something way worse than fraud to get sent here.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: I can see him settling in relatively comfortable, with protection from a gang in return for bankrolling their stuff or giving access to his moneyed connections outside.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: Doubtful it's real, but vaguely curious.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Anything! Friends who will talk at while he's quiet (tell him ur secrets and he will adore u), people who will contently exist in the same place as him and/or deflect people trying to be shitty (his ideal social situation). People who want to see what they can get out of him, people who are shitty to him. Flirtation

CR You Can Offer: Art lessons, drawing things for your character, a person to witness or be a neutral third party to shenanigans. He's got quiet little brother energy. Farrah's a listener who'll tolerate a lot of poor behavior and enable criminal ones if the interaction pings the power exchange/transactional part of his brain (ie scare someone away who's been bothering him and he won't protest when you steal his soda. say you like the other kind of soda better, and even if you were trying to be mean about it, next time he'll pick up 2 cans of the kind you like so you each have one.)

Current Plans: Nothing really.

IC Information

Name: Squalo Superbi
Block: B
Sentence: Life
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Less than a year

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: He doesn't purposefully break the rules, it's more that he doesn't give much of a fuck about them. So while everything aligns he might be a model prisoner but the moment he wants to do something that is against the rules, he will do it. Start a fight, for example. He's high energy, rather impulsive and has little regard for consequences.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: Lots of starting fights. Like, lots of them. Both serious and petty or playful. He'll make shit up if he has to. He might also linger in places he shouldn't be at, not take his work seriously if he's assigned any, and possibly have something to do with contraband eventually, but I expect fighting to be the main one.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Yes. Considering the above, probably a third to half of his time at Obsidian has been spent there.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: It can really go both ways. He's somewhat social and will chat others up when in a good mood, whether trying to find out more about them or just out of boredom. However he doesn't really open up in return, and while he makes no effort to hide certain facts of his alleged crimes, he does his best not to let anyone know how he feels about anything... for now. If he's irritable that day, he'll likely keep to himself and linger on the outskirts, always with his back to a wall, and provide little in the way of conversation.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Both, actually. He can lead, but he enjoys power over responsibility and also needs someone in higher position than himself to control him and reign him in when necessary. He makes for a decent second (or n-th) in command, and he is willing to submit to stronger personalities after a power game, as long as they have something to back up their claims with.

What might they be doing on an average day?:
Exercising, talking to people or glaring at people, loitering around, reading, complaining about food and how he would make it better, picking fights, listening to others' conversations, antagonizing guards, training roaches, setting up petty pranks, playing games (from boring desk type to "Dare me to do X for Y"). Actually the latter is probably quite common and he'll encourage others to do stupid shit as well.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?:
He can be largely nonproblematic and manage to keep others in line -- if he's got a good game going on, is interested in what's on TV or is trying to eat his dinner in peace, for example.
However he's very temperamental and prone to violence at little provocation, and it's usually difficult to predict at all what might set him off.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: I would expect they're wary of him, especially in the other blocks, as he can switch from friendly to violent really quickly, so "that psycho" seems accurate. Inmates who don't want trouble probably don't annoy him on purpose. However he is also surprisingly reliable and generally nice to people he likes, not to mention has the ability to get shit done. The main line is probably still "best don't poke him unless you really need something from him", however characters in block B who see more of him might have a more positive opinion. And, of course, fellow troublemakers might find him outright delightful. He's still a loose cannon though.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: He was likely over several newspapers a couple years back when a huge operation to take down organized crime in Europe succeeded, so anyone able to see the news at the time would probably know about his murder count. He also won't shy away from providing bloody details to anyone who asks, adding that to the circulation. There's rumors that he's killed an inmate in his previous prison (true, a member of his gang that planned to snitch) by tearing his throat out with his teeth (half false; that didn't kill him) and a guard (false). There's a rumor that someone tried to get him to suck a dick and he bit it off (false on both accounts). Some might say his hair turned white after an unsuccessful cult ritual (false) and that touching it might bring you good luck or a curse, depending who you ask (both false). There's probably more, feel free to make up any false rumors about him!

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?:
He doesn't want to get too involved, but he does want comfort and some semblance of power, so he's trying to claw his way to... somewhere near the top. It's difficult as he's new and most possible niches for that have already been filled; I'm not yet sure which way he will end up developing - he might eventually try to challenge one of the "leaders" of the place, or he might be perfectly happy following one of them, though he'll still likely want respect and benefits. I'm down for him getting knocked down in the process (maybe even as someone's plan to get him out of competition and recruit him instead!)

What does your character think of the Anomaly?:
Up until recently, he considered it tin-foiled trash bullshit.
Once the TV started speaking to him however, he's now carefully curious, though still trying to come up with a reasonable explanation for it.

Plotting Section

CR You Want:
Anything really. Buddies or rivals to get in trouble with, play games, make wild plots or petty prank wars with; enemies; someone willing to fight him or knock him down a peg; actual friends; violence enthusiasts; prominent figures to follow; inmates to be wary of him because of the murders and unpredictability; bosses to adopt him; someone he can get protective of; someone who underestimates him because he looks... let's say pretty, and gets their ass kicked; someone he underestimates and gets his own ass kicked; the list goes on.

CR You Can Offer:
Pretty much all of the above!

He can always play the part of sadist/bully/torturer for your trauma/horror needs and whatever consequences come from that. He's also not incapable of playing nice and scaring off other sadists/bullies/torturers, especially if you can repay the favor somehow, but sometimes he might just feel like it. He enjoys being active and brawling even when it gets him in trouble, and he's very loyal to those he actually befriends.

If you want someone shanked in their sleep, or just intimidated into submission, he's also an excellent guy to consider. Hell, he's been delivering "messages" that may or may not include busted kneecaps for years, he's perfected it into an art at this point.

Current Plans:
None yet.

IC Information

Name: Felix
Block: C
Sentence: Three - five years.
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Couple of weeks.

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: So far, Felix has been playing nice and following the rules because it benefits him to do so. He's buying time and trying to learn what he can get away with, and who he can act up around without it being an issue, before he starts ignoring some of the rules he finds inconvenient.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: Felix is the type of guy who will do just about anything if the price is right. Need someone punched in the face or be generally threatened to back off? Sure. Attempt to sneak something illegal under Flagg's nose in block C? That'll cost a good favor that he will most definitely be cashing in on as soon as he wants it.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Nope, not yet.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: Remarkably social. Felix is trying to get a feel for everyone he can, so he can figure out where the weak links are in this place, and an easy way to do that is to buddy up to folks.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Felix isn't a big plans kinda guy when left to his own devices. But he's happy to seek out whoever has grand plans and find the most promising place to put himself within them. Once he's there, he's got no issues figuring out what steps to take next on his own, and it's easy for him to issue orders to anyone who needs them.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Not much. Felix will often socialise or people watch, and likes to work out. He's not one for reading for fun, though he will try and keep up on some of the current news.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: So far, Felix has given them no reason to dislike him. He's relatively well behaved, and probably has a few guards he can greet by name.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: As a new guy, Felix hasn't earned much of a reputation for himself yet. He's been careful make sure he's perceived as chatty, cheeky, and generally approachable, bordering on disarming. If anyone is particularly perceptive, they might catch him sometimes scowling out of the corner of their eye, but it's unlikely that anyone's been given reason to call him out on any unpleasantness so far.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: Once, more than ten years back, he tried his hand at bounty hunting — to little success, so no worries about anyone in here blaming him for their sentences. There might be a few people who think he said it was unsuccessful to cover his own ass, and that someone he put away might be in this very prison. (It's likely untrue that he followed bounty hunting for very long at all because it was too much moral work for not enough payoff, but I won't rule it out in case anyone wants to plot w/me about that possibility.)

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: Right now, he's looking to play the nice guy and get himself out of here as soon as possible. When it becomes apparent that his outside benefactor is dropping him (and thus causing him to lose the backing of his very fancy lawyers) and that he's in it for the long haul, Felix is going to aim to be someone recognised as very capable, and will try to remain approachable in order to get whatever work done under the table he's needed for. While he'll want people to know they can come to him for jobs, he will aim to be seen as someone not to be fucked with, and will do whatever dirty work he needs to in order to back that up.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: He doesn't think much of it, is currently in the boat of thinking anything supernatural is fake, and that anyone who buys into it is a moron.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: Pre much anything! People Felix can manipulate, people with whom he can have fist fights to either blow off steam or work out genuine conflict. Someone who is clever enough to see through his fake crap and call him out for having zero compassion for human life, and honestly maybe someone who would want to befriend him because of that.

CR You Can Offer: Violence, dishonesty, and generally immoral garbage? Also Felix being obnoxiously friendly. But really, I'm down to play a lot of things, and if anything from the above sounds like your slice of cake then I'm here to serve it up.

Current Plans: I don't have anything planned out for now!

IC Information

Name: Ardbert
Block: C
Sentence: Life without parole
How long have they been at Obsidian?: 5 months

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: Obey, for the most part.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: People start fights with him because he's grumpy and gruff, and he ends them in spectacular fashion. You know, with a lot of bruises on both sides.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Maybe once? Depends on how quickly he got into a brawl and pissed the guards off.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: The latter. He doesn't interact unless someone talks to him first, or he absolutely has to.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Neither. He's more of a fuck the system! fuck the man! kind of guy and if any inmate tries to step up and establish themselves as a leader, Ardbert will immediately write them off as an idiot and asshole. Depending on the other character's personality, he might either ignore them thoroughly, or challenge them so they can just shut up.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Sitting in his room, sulking He usually starts out by checking the news, either on TV, or if the prison has them, newspapers. Exchanging books in the library for some he hasn't read yet, trying to get into workshops so he can keep his hands busy, working out when he feels like it, keeping to himself during yard time. General, regular stuff of someone who's just trying to keep his head down and not be noticed. Not exactly difficult, since he almost like Regular Joe, just with a Londoner's accent.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?:
Like: Has a good head on his shoulders, and doesn't seek out trouble.

Dislike: Ardbert... doesn't actually respect the guards, he thinks they're just thugs employed by the law and no better than the inmates. He generally does what they say, but there will be times when he gets sarcastic and snappy.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?:"He doesn't give a fuck about you or what you're selling, and if you push, he'll push back harder," might be what's commonly heard about him. There may also be people who outright don't know him because he's managed to successfully stay off their radar.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: That he and his old gang murdered a bunch of high and mighty people somewhere, and caused a lot of chaos that killed a bunch of others. Exploding cars may or may not have been in the mix. ... You know what, the stories could even be Fast & Furious-levels of ridiculous.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?:
For block C: I know Flagg's setting up camp as cult leader (already has?), and Ardbert will go straight-up NO to that. He thinks people who try to corral criminals/create gangs are already bad news (tells you what he thinks of the whole prison system), and he likes cultists much less because they're sinister and predatory af. He'll be ignoring this to the best of his ability, but if Flagg or any of his followers start getting really pushy and hardcore about it, Ardbert will do his best to slap that down so they can just shut up (sry guys).

In general: Given Ardbert's stance about gangs, I think it'd be hilarious for him to end up as the leader of one. I see it being entirely possible given his personality, being people-oriented in some manner. Someone being bullied? There's a chance he'll intervene. Gangs getting too uppity or forceful? He'll get into himself. Guards and other employees being abusive? Same deal. He might not be overly friendly, but if there are like-minded people who just want to be left alone by the various politics going on in the prison, Ardbert would like to stick to them as much as possible, or allow them to attach to him-- which may turn into a gang anyway, even if they're just a group who wants to be left alone by everyone else.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: Skeptic. He wont believe the rumors until he's personally affected.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: It's cliche and typical to say "all of it", but honestly? Yeah, that's pretty much what I want. Copy-pasting from my AU workshop post:
- "Allies" he might have made during his time here, whether they're genuine allies or using him/using each other for benefits.
- I'll be real, it's more likely that people will just want to use him because he's a tough, scary-looking guy who can beat the shit out of others easily.
- Actual real ffffriends? Maybe? He does best with people to support, but he holds himself away from others emotionally after what happened.
- Enemies, pls.
- People who recognize him from before prison? Maybe? Ask him why he's behind bars now, when he used to be such a teddy bear.
- Those kinds of benefits, you know, FWB. He's here for life, he's going nowhere.

CR You Can Offer: I'll be real, I'm flexible about this stuff.
- Antagonistic CR? I can give that in spades bc of how Ardbert is.
- Fighting? Sparring? Workout buds? Sure. He actually needs someone to keep his skills sharp on.
- If someone has SOMEHOW managed to make friends with Ardbert, they'll find he's a good friend, always around to lend a hand. Gives the best brofists around. Which could work out in someone's favor if they need a protector.
- Conversations about existentialism? He could do that, he's had a lot to think about even in the five months he's been around, because he started thinking about these things much earlier.
- If people had positive CR with him prior to prison, that will continue on in here, which means Ardbert can be called on to protecc and attacc

Current Plans: None at the moment-- most of the new event I'll be playing by ear.
