reputations & plotting meme

Greetings, inmates!

The purpose of this meme is two-fold: one, to plot and plan threads with the other players in the game! That part is self-explanatory. You are encouraged to use this meme to plot closed logs with other players as there is no group intro log.

And two: to start feeling out a daily routine for your characters, what kind of relationships they have with the guards and NPC inmates, and what kind of reputation they have overall! Even new arrivals will start to get a reputation pretty quickly, so don't worry if your character isn't established yet.

This sort of background planning affects things like: the reputation each block has, characters that may be punished more or less than others, how easily characters will be able to bribe guards, which characters might be pegged as good potential snitches by the guards, and so on!

Reputation Section

Does your character obey the rules, or try to skirt around them?: Whatever seems most convenient and directly benefits him at the time. If a rule seems particularly "unfair" he's much more likely to ignore it.

If your character is disobedient, what sort of rule-breaking would they engage in?: Absolutely dealing/buying contraband, anything of the personal comforts of home. Cigarettes, alcohol. Reno will also fight other inmates. He knows how street reps work and he's not about to appear in any way vulnerable or easy.

Has your character ever been to SHU?: Not yet.

Is your character social, or do they keep to themselves?: Reno is very social! Perhaps obnoxiously so.

Is your character more of a leader or a follower? Or neither?: Reno enjoyed a bit of rank as a Turk which afforded him some authority, and in that he had some "leadership." He likes to have independence and give orders, but he doesn't like taking responsibility for others' failures or stupidity. Very rarely is Reno a follower, but he can be convinced. He will only follow a strong leader who earns his respect and loyalty. But once he is loyal to someone, it's unshakable.

What might they be doing on an average day?: Playing cards (probably gambling -- you got anything to trade?); playing basketball (generally staying active, but he's not a weight-lifting kind of guy); maybe reading if he's desperate, but he needs something stimulating. Like structural manuals for helicopters and motorcycles. Or porn.

What's something about your character's behavior that the guards might like? What might they dislike?: Reno likes to gossip and he's not one to turn down a bribe. A few guards might not be above a little tit for tat to give him some leeway or otherwise restricted items for information on other inmates. That said, Reno is an equal-opportunity gossip and if there's someone on his shitlist -- including guards -- he'll spill their info, too. While Reno will fight for his personal benefit, he also understands good business and he'll just as likely not fight for the same reason. He'll put down an upstart if he doesn't want to be bothered and "keep the peace." Even as a prisoner, as a Turk he'd have some influence of intimidation.

How is your character perceived by other inmates, in their block and outside of it?: On Reno's "best" day, he's cheeky, flirtatious, easygoing -- if he likes you. He can also come across as rude, impulsive, and irreverent. At "worst," he can be downright frightening for the very specific ways he knows how to hurt other people.

If they asked around, what might other PCs hear about your character?: Reno crushed thousands of people in what has been determined an act of domestic terrorism in dropping part of the Plate over a sector of Midgar city. There may still be conflicting rumors that it really was AVALANCHE that was at fault and others claim that Shinra ordered the damage to its own city to further emphasize propaganda against its opponents. Reno will make no effort to argue that it was anyone other than Shinra. The Turks themselves were a bit of a rumor before their existence was confirmed as part of the greater evidence and trials against Shinra as a whole. There are many dark stories about what exactly "Turks" did, including assassination, espionage, and kidnapping. Reno will usually let others' imaginations think the worst because it makes them easier to intimidate. However, he will vehemently deny any involvement in rape.

Where would you like your character to end up, in terms of reputation and their role in their block and the prison as a whole?: Reno seems to really thrive as someone's right-hand man. Of course he likes to have his own wiggle room for rules and independence for conducting himself his way. But as much as Reno is headstrong, he understands the importance of structure and he needs a crew he can depend on. In Obsidian, he's been separated from the rest of his "family" which leaves him vulnerable and unsettled. He needs to recreate it that sort of "family" and set of relationships.

What does your character think of the Anomaly?: Initially, Reno will laugh off the stories as just fairy tales set up to intimidate others into good behavior. That said, he is aware of Shinra's biological experiments, both on animals and humans. With the right technology, he could believe that a "monster" could be created and that a similar lab might be just under Obsidian just as there had been an old lab hidden under Midgar (and others besides). He doubts it's in any way supernatural.

Plotting Section

CR You Want: All the CR! Partnerships, rivalries, casual sex, escape attempts, full buffet

CR You Can Offer: Reno is looking for a way to solidify his place in the hierarchy and keep himself there. He can be an ally and provide protection for promises of loyalty -- in fact, he'd prefer it. A "big brother" trope who will fight for you, the "best friend" who will have your back and shank someone for crossing you. Of course, his attitude can be irritating and both friends and enemies alike will have to deal with it. Reno enjoys his vices and is more than happy to share them with other people - drinking, drugs, unsanctioned Fight Club, FWB.

Current Plans: No big plans at the moment!
