au workshop;

Welcome to Obsidian's first AU workshop meme! Just fill out the form below and tag around to your fellow potential applicants to form potential pre-existing relationships and generally bounce ideas off of each other.
This meme is always open and you are never late! I'll make sure to draw some attention to new comments if they're posted after the initial rush. Posting here is part of the informal "application", but it's also for fun. Don't worry about writing an entire detailed backstory. In fact, we encourage you to keep some details of your character's past secret and reveal them in the flashback comm!
Feel free to post as many characters as you want. Posting here is not a commitment to app.

Player Name: Oscar
Contact:
IC Information
Character Name: Felix (given name Isaac Gates)
Canon: Red vs. Blue
Age: 38
What were they arrested for?: Possession of an assault weapon, but a case is being built up outside of that for much, much more — enough that even his well-paid lawyer might not be able to get him off the hook. This is just what he was pinned down for and it's all he'll admit to (for the time), but in his belt he's got
manyseveral instances each of kidnapping, assault, grand theft, and murder. How long is their sentence?: Three to five years, likely to extend to life.
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Probably about 2-3 weeks. Basically he's had a little time to settle in, make nice with some folks and rub a few others the wrong way.
Character Description:
For personality: Felix appears to be a really personable guy, able to mesh well with just about any crowd he's put into. He's got a good sense of humor and comes across as someone relatively trustworthy. There's no mistaking him for an innocent angel, but he succeeds at being pretty disarming and likable. He's also a remarkable actor, able to cover up his own self-interest and absolute disregard for the lives of others that don't immediately benefit him. He's cocky about his own abilities and becomes enraged and somewhat manic if someone outshines him in a way that keeps him from his goals. He takes pleasure in causing pain on those he feels have wronged him, and as he twists the knife, literally, he will further drag the situation out by monologuing about how boring it is to play the nice guy all the time.
For BG: Felix's childhood wasn't extraordinarily good or bad, but as soon as he was able he joined the marines, and never kept in touch with whatever family he left behind. There, he learned skills in weapons and fighting that he became pretty remarkable at, but was dishonorably discharged (possibly alongside his long-time friend and partner in
lifecrime, Samuel Ortez aka Locus, but their shared history can be agreed upon if someone ever picks him up). He was hurting for cash and started picking up jobs here and there, starting off with the morally questionable and jumping with leaps and bounds into, effectively, a flaming dumpster fire of immorality and bad life choices that he was totally okay with because the money was good. Eventually, his mercenary work led him to be hired by a corrupt CEO for a big job with a big, big payout that would leave him set for life — if, y'know, he didn't get interrupted by a jail sentence some months into his contract. The work isn't finished, but he's holding hopes that his rich contact will continue to fund his defense so he can serve his time and wrap up his loose ends on the job before retiring to his own private island with the payout he's expecting. For those familiar with RVB canon, he's basically being plucked out of the middle of the Chorus job, but is interrupted before the blood gulch crew crash land onto the planet.
Potential CR wanted: Anything! He'll probably find most of the people here interesting, and want to make friends because it'll benefit him more than making enemies. But I'm also eager to have his true colors show and for him to get into messy bloody fights. And if anyone wants to know him from before, either bc they hired him once or because they frequented the same fancy clubs, hit me up!

I'd love to play with you! I don't have any solid plans for the domain event if you're interested in anything around that?
no subject
I have domain plans for both Steve and Michael, though I haven't posted plans for him yet. If Felix wants to meander his way around a cursed mall, there will definitely be an option for that. I can always throw him at Felix's if you've got domain plans, too!

Also, hi, this is still Oscar, I'm just not up to switching accounts rn.

Ogata has a lot of pride too, and tends to want to be 'the best' at things he's good at. He's also been in some sort of military group, and was leaning 'less than legal' long before he actually murdered someone and got tracked down. They could have worked together before if you'd like to hammer out a job or two for them!
He really dislikes 'good' people, and likes to toy with them or drag them down to a lower moral level, so maybe he and Felix can talk shit about the do gooders in prison.

IN ANY CASE. I'd love it if they worked together at some point in the past, and for them to talk shit about people in the present. Would Ogata do anything like a break-in to steal a specific item or paperwork, from somewhere (moderately) dangerous? They could have been hired by the same person or put out feelers for someone to join in on the job when they realised it needed to be a two-man thing maybe ??
And it's not goodness that bugs him so much, but Felix sincerely believes that there's no one inherently selfless enough to do things without wanting something in return. At least, they don't if they've got even half a brain about them. So, yeah, he's v ready to laugh at all the idiots thinking they can get by in a place like this trying to actually be do-goody. It's been just terrible having to roll his eyes at people in secret.

Ogata is a sniper first and foremost, so he could easily be in on a heist like that. He probably wouldn't have personally broken in, but provided cover / surveillance for the operation. Hired by the same person and only in tangential contact (but knowing who the other is / recognizing each other in prison), working more closely start to finish, or being with a bigger group - all of those options work for me! Do you have a preference?
The belief that no one is inherently selfless jives with Ogata for sure. They can be misanthropes together... He'll shit on the good kiddos with you, buddy.
And get up to shit in prison, too, I'm sure. If Felix is ever trying to carry out another heist/any other kind of operation, loop Ogata in. He'd be down to help.

Felix likely wouldn't work with a bigger group on a single job, his absolute max would be 4 people, and that's including himself (his complaint largely being that it'd take away from his cut of the payout). I could definitely see them with tangential contact — Felix working inside with Ogata having eyes outside, having one another over comms and maybe spending a collective 20 minutes in the same room together.
Oh yeah. Once news comes to Felix that he's in here for more than a couple years (aka once his benefactor stops paying lawyers to defend the other charges out against Felix), Felix'll be ready to destroy Obsidian as best he can, and will def. reach out to include Ogata.

everon the job. He did his part well, got his payout, and vanished as expected...Ogata loves creating chaos! He'll definitely be on board

Hmmmm..... on the thought of Charon being in the pharmaceutical industry, maybe Chorus is a charity organisation that has something to do with providing medical care/education to a small country that Hargrove honestly wanted to stay in a bad state of disrepair bc he made a lot of money off shady things there. Felix's involvement might have had something to do with ensuring Chorus was not successful by doing things behind the scenes under the guise of volunteering his time with the charity. I've been unable to pin down what the AU for the Chorus job could have been and that feels suitable.
