Character Description: Randall Flagg was the notorious leader of a deadly cult (cool cult name yet to be decided on), known for inspiring a level of fanatacism amongst his followers that would lead them to kill for him if he asked. He masqueraded as a peaceful man in charge of a peaceful community, and his charisma allowed him to succeed in that lie for almost two decades until everything he and his followers had done was exposed and most of them were arrested. He's very interested in rumors of the Anomaly in Obsidian, and true to form has gathered a little circle of 'followers' that he will protect in exchange for their devotion to him. He's got a nasty reputation among his enemies, but he's still good at swaying people to his side.
Potential CR wanted: I would love some pre-existing CR for Flagg, both from his time in prison and before. Some things I'm interested in are:

• People who were in his cult, whether they are still devoted to him or not.


• People who are part of his prison family/gang.


• Actual family? That could be interesting and is something he doesn't really have in canon!

Character Description: Last time Cass was considering making this game, I made a bulletpoint AU but basically AM or Alan is the head of not!google (though it's a company on a much smaller scale), or "Allied Mastercomputers" or "AM" for short (hence the name) and was a successful businessman and a genius. As is sometimes the case with geniuses, there is a screw loose, namely that he really loves to torture and murder people and is basically a psychopath.
Potential CR wanted: Pre-established CR is fine since he's been here for a bit! But I am interested in the following for new and established CR:

What were they arrested for?: Betraying his friends through attempted murder, also some theft and some A LOT OF kidnapping. OH YEAH and they also connected him to that time he set off a bomb that decimated an entire village of innocents. :| (It'll all be basically a twist on his actual canon, with some twist of dissidia stuff thrown in as well). The bomb thing was a directive from his commanding officer, and his best friend was also involved but he's basically taking the blame for it all alone.
How long is their sentence?: LIFE.
How long have they been at Obsidian?: He's a newcomer.
Character Description: Kain gives off a surprisingly upstanding vibe at times despite where he is and what he's done. There's a sort of honorable and loyal side to him. In fact, some of the details of the betrayals are a bit foggy in his head because he was being controlled/used (likely drugged or otherwise somehow under the influence of some kind of crazy mind control) by some criminal masterminds at that point. He's very susceptible to stronger forces, though he tries to fight against that, and also has a darker side which he'll be struggling against in this environment too. He's got a background as a military fighter, probably air force, given how much he connects to the sky as a character. So he knows how to hold his own in a rough/violent situation.
Potential CR wanted: Anything! He'll probably be in dire need of friends, anyone who can be on his side. But, I also adore negative CR, and given the environment, I expect and hope that'll come up too, so... any sort of rivalry, anyone who wants to really mess him up, abuse and use him in the worst possible ways, and along those lines would be especially great.

Character Description: Abigail's father was a serial killer, who murdered and ate girls who looked just like Abigail due to his obsession with her, with Abigail herself acting as the lure for the victims. As her father had been killed by the authorities when they tried to apprehend him, she was tried instead as an accessory, due not only to the outcry of the victims' families but the general outrage and revulsion when the public learned of the cannibalism aspect of the case. There was a strong case that Abigail was acting for her own self-preservation, and even now it's believed by most psychological professionals that this was the case, but the jury were desperate to see someone punished for this and Abigail was found guilty. She's a new arrival at Obsidian and the very definition of fresh meat.
Potential CR wanted: Anything and everything, but in particular, people to protect her and mentor her, bad influences to take her down a dark path, good/moral influences to try to guide her back, friends her own age, rivals, people she can manipulate and people to manipulate her

Character Description: Michael is from a dysfunctional and broken household, raised in a sheltered home by his grandmother. He's only a young boy when he starts exhibiting signs of sadism, starting with the neighborhood cats which his grandmother helped cover up. As an adult, he lacks purpose or much by way of life experiences and latches onto the first person who sees any sort of promise in him. He's inducted into a satanic cult- an off-shoot of a much larger entity- working in shadow after its downfall. He embraces his true family and rises quickly among the ranks as a gifted and ambitious member with eyes on the title of leader. Michael is righteous in his belief in the cult's teachings and that he's meant for something more. One can only carve out and eat so many hearts before someone slips.

Character Description: Eliot basically one of the major drug players in the US. He charges a premium price for his product, but it's because it's good shit and everyone knows that when you get drugs from his operation, it's pure and the best quality. The feds have been trying to bring him and his operation down for ages, but Eliot is stupidly charming (one of the reasons he even shot to such high status for his age), and even when he goes to court, the jury just can't seem to give him a guilty sentence. He has prior arrests due to possession (the reason he's so good at what he does is because, as a self-proclaimed addict, he's tried pretty much everything there is to try), but those were in his Pre-Drug Lord Days. He also has been found guilty of bribing officers and other important figures, such as judges / lawyers / district attorneys. There's a rumour he's also slept with them and, really, no one doubts it. There's also at least two murders Eliot's been linked two but there's never been enough evidence to bring him down on it, whether as the one who committed them or as an accessory to them.

He's also never really been properly challenged because there are rumours that he's witchy and he's used ~rituals~ to curse people that have tried to cross him. Is it true? We just don't know.

Potential CR wanted:

Eliot being "the guy" to go to if you want any contraband.

Character Description: A very vague and loose idea:
-Quentin is obsessed with a children's fantasy book series called Fillory and Further. When he was younger, he experienced some sort of anomaly/something vaguely supernatural/saw something he was convinced was a portal or something to the land Fillory itself.
-Absolutely so obsessed with the idea that Fillory is real, he grew up to be so entranced in the books/old literature and finding it (possibly joined a cult because of it?). Most people think he's an insane conspiracy theorist.
-Realized he was really good at replicating those books when he was tryihng to make replicas of his first edition, started forging other old books etc since he's a smart cookie, dipped his toes into forging/copying actual documents/fake IDs/etc and gradually moved up in the world
-Was known around the New York underground as a very depressed/"crazy" but extremely good at getting anything from passports to faked court documents
-Kind of keeps to himself in jail/is still very convinced Fillory is real (it isn't)
-In general he's got the same personality as quentin from the canon source: stressed, depressed, obsessed, desperately wanting magic to be real, can be a super awkward or super bitchy or super nerdy depending on the day

After serving several years in the Gilboan army, he was honorably discharged after he nearly died during an operation in disputed territory. Jack reluctantly settled back into the court life of press, parties, and political manipulation--involving himself in several plots to overthrow is father. After the last (and most nearly successful) failed attempt, he fled the country. Eventually, the law caught up to him and landed him here. Proud, ruthless, ambitious, and highly emotional beneath a composed facade, Jack deals all the worst kept secrets... and is hiding a few of his own.

• Jack functions best with an entourage and will be looking for people to fill that role. He can be quite friendly when he wants and has been known to be quite the life of the party prison.

How long have they been at Obsidian?: Not sure yet, most likely fresh off the bus but willing to change that!
Character Description: Rook is... was a junior deputy with the Hope County Sheriff's Department in Montana. Fresh out of training, his first major assignment was the arrest of a cult leader firmly bedded down in Hope County. It did not go well. The helicopter was forced down by cult members, and all the officers within were captured, save for the junior deputy. With the cult leader claiming to his followers that this had started the End of Days, what followed was a weeks-long bloodbath, as Rook tried to rescue his friends from the cult's clutches by any force necessary. Through the experience he was both drugged extensively, and brainwashed by the cult's leaders. At the end of it, countless lay dead, both cultists and civilians alike. A highly publicized case within the US for the sheer body count, some saw Rook as a hero who defended his home, some saw him as a symbol of the law's gross systemic abuse of power, and some saw him simply as too dangerous to be among normal civilians. The judicial system's compromise was a life sentence for David Rook with the possibility of parole.

As far as personality, Rook is relatively quiet but outgoing enough, pretty easily goaded into his more hotheaded tendencies, and currently with a whole lotta internal conflict of trauma and right vs wrong.

Potential CR wanted: I am down for just about anything!
• People to butt heads with! Rook generally still sees himself as a good guy with strong morals, though his feelings are Complicated about that. Speaking of...
• Potentially people to manipulate his Feelings about his place in the mess that happened to him, whether he's good like he thought or evil like he's starting to worry, or whether those concepts even mean anything anymore!
• Rook will happily come to the defense of others, and is likely to take people under his wing. And finally...
• Friends in general! Rook is... or at least used to be, your relatively average 19 year old. He likes 80's hair metal and reading, and can get along with most anyone that isn't a raging jerk.
• Maybe romance/friends with benefits? He's here for life after all.

Character Description: She's initially kind of seen as the annoying, insecure, peppy friend. In the show it's her vampirism that ends up bringing out the best in her. It's supposed to bring out your strongest personality traits, and while it does, it also makes Caroline stronger.

So likewise I kind of want to carry that line that having gone through what she has, accidentally killing someone and then trying to make things right as much as she can here, she's still going to try her best, be the best friend type. She has a big heart, but she's also tougher than a lot of people give her credit for.
Potential CR wanted: Bad guys she can help rehabilitate and be friends with. Or bad guys for that negative cr. Also best friend types. She will also likely get involved in any kind of programs there are-- and then probably try and micromanage them. So any kind of group things.

Character Description: An ambitious, manipulative prima donna with an uncanny way of getting what she wants. Not all of the rumors are true, but sure, go ahead and believe that she lost her eye in San Quentin and smuggles stolen diamonds in the empty socket. More power to her. In reality though, there was a time she didn't think she'd make it to twenty-eight. The juvenile priors sealed in a Los Angeles Police Department drawer include bank robbery and car theft. She did three stints in rehab before she finally kicked cocaine (for a few months). She was a star all set to burn out and take everyone with her, but meeting her partner-in-crime and finding something she was really good at, something she could channel all her anger into and wasn't alone in, changed everything. She's serious about what she does, the venomous snake behind Eliot's dark theatrics. Her head is so far in her game that she can see out its ass, and there's no maneuver too shady, nothing and no one she won't turn into a tool and fuck you with if it benefits her or her friends. Go ahead and try to be friends, but know that there are about thirteen layers of caustic, catty armor before you actually get to know her.

Character Description: French, youngest kid of a large wealthy family, hella good trust fund that means he could be as decadent and entitled as he wants. Except what he wants to do is art. Thats it. He more or less lived off of his painting, often portraits for rich as fuck people to hang in their stupid mansions, but his ~passion~ is hyper-realistic surreal/slightly disturbing still lifes and animals. Think "painting of a horse where there is so much detail and focus on the eyes and tension in the face that it feels like its staring at you and hates you, specifically YOU". Does it have anything to do with the swirly tattoo on his hand? Or the similar swirls he puts in backgrounds? That's just his go-to background texture, nothing weird about it!

Overall personality is quiet to the point a lot of people assume he's mute, chill af, noncombative, reclusive/happy alone but also content to be around people and let them talk at him. Attentive, playful, likes jokes, just... lowkey about it. As a teen he met a 30something yr old CEO lady at a fancy party, became her secret sidepiece, and discovered what really thrills him: powerful people letting him take tiny bits of their power. He doesn't want to be The Guy or even The Guy's Right Hand, he wants The Guy to notice him stealing a fry from The Guy's plate and let him. He wants The Guy to let him hog the blankets at night or put his cold feet on his legs. Part of the joy of painting portraits for the elite and showing off his disturbing-but-you-can't-SAY-its-disturbing art is being able to flex just a little and make the ultra wealthy compromise or be uncomfortable for even a moment.

He took the fall for his girlfriend's financial crimes, because he doesn't give a fuck as long as he can still paint, and she probably begged him to, and he's got a ton of dirt on her and her friends and that is very satisfying.

He's only got access to basic supplies and watercolors here but y'all want to get ur portrait done? Or art lessons?

Character Description: The Countess was originally from New York City in the early 1900s, but went to Los Angeles in the '20s to pursue fame. She didn't become a star, but she did fall in love with a famous actor, only to be crushed by his death shortly thereafter. Since she couldn't be with the man she loved, she married for money, choosing a sinister hotel magnate who turned out to be a serial killer himself. Rather than be repulsed, she encouraged him, guiding him towards wealthier victims as she started joining him for his kills. She quickly became a seasoned murderer, and soon became convinced that the blood she was regularly coated in was keeping her young and beautiful. Elizabeth Bathory knew what the fuck she was talking about, apparently. After her husband committed suicide to avoid being arrested, The Countess took control of his fortune and hotel, but that wasn't going to maintain her youth. She studied until she found a ritual that would supposedly let her exchange a sacrifice to some ancient god for whatever she most desired. What she most desired was to keep killing people and staying pretty. Duh. But she is a busy modern lady, and ain't nobody got time to collect bathtubs of blood. So instead, she started drinking blood and cannibalizing her victims, and it works. She doesn't really know how or even exactly why, but it works.

Her mistake was trusting Bernie Madoff, who stole all her money. So she had to marry another rich man. This time, she chose a fashion designer, who she married and then quickly killed. She didn't even kill him for fun, he just pissed her off. The cops arrested her and, well, it wasn't hard for them to piece the other actions together. Pro-tip: don't get on the laundress's bad side, because that bitch can be your downfall.
Potential CR wanted: All CR, all the time. The Countess particularly likes pretty people and evil people. Also she wants to drink your blood.

Character Description: Moran is normally from a Victorian era, so the big AU point here will be the time period shift with some other fine details that would need to be ironed out. Other than that, he's going to be relatively similar to his canon counterpart.

He was a colonel in the British army, having voluntarily resigned some years ago. Why he resigned is a mystery, but you'll hear whispers that he, simply put, "went bad" and wished to avoid dishonorable discharge. When he returned to London, he took up work with one Professor James Moriarty who quietly runs a crime ring. Moran was immediately appointed head of one of the "most prestigious divisions"--murder. And that's kind of all you need to know. Moriarty devises the plans, Moran carries them through. He's robbed, swindled, killed, and he cheats at cards. He is rash and he is disposable, however, and Moriarty wouldn't particularly care or help him if he got caught. Which he did. Crime he got caught at to be chosen upon reread, tbh.

He's obsessed with firearms and hunting. Murder is a sport and a game to him and gives him an adrenaline rush. What fun is it without a little chase? If you ask him, he's not a murderer, he's a sportsman. He's also delusional because no one else believes that. He enjoys what he does.

There's also a thing about tigers but please, no tiger king jokes, I will make all the tiger king jokes.

Character Description: I'm keeping her pretty close to canon.

Harley is a wildcard. An explosive wildcard that can either end in violence and cocaine or Froot Loops and glitter. She considers herself one of the bad guys despite landing a little closer to anti-hero recently. She's violently chaotic and hates being bored and underestimated.

It depends on the day how mentally stable Harley is, but she likes to think she's doing a lot better since her big break up with the Joker. Not that she'd mind if he returned the favour and sprung her from prison.

She likes bright colours, sparkly things and having fun. Especially if that fun involves kicking the crap out of assholes.

What were they arrested for?: Three counts of third-degree murder, but he’ll tell you that he was very much framed and had nothing to do with it. Which is actually true. It wasn’t a great time.
How long is their sentence?: Life, but he will continue to take that up with his lawyer, thank you.
How long have they been at Obsidian?: New arrival, most likely.
Character Description: Basically not much is being AUed here beyond the fact that Chilton was not shot in the fact and will be charged with the deaths he was framed for at the end of season two.

Chilton was a surgeon once, but he was so dangerously incompetent at his job that he opted to change careers rather than face further embarrassment. After accidentally killing a patient on his operating table, he turned to the psychiatric field instead: a hands off experience with no scalpels and therefore no vital arteries to accidentally run into. He was administrator for Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, which granted him access to a whole palette of psychopaths. He used a lot of unethical practices on his patients, mostly psychic driving, and everyone knew about it BUT that didn’t end him up in prison. It didn’t even get his license suspended. He was framed for the murder of one of his patients and two FBI agents in his own home by one Hannibal Lecter. Yes, it does rhyme with cannibal, how astute of you to notice.

As far as personality goes, he has a whole Thing going on. He’s kind of smug and pompous and chooses his words very carefully. He carries himself well and tries to build himself and his accomplishments up, but it’s all an act and no one has ever effectively fallen for it. He’s a fake and a liar and a failure. If he chooses to do something, it’s most likely for his own gain. But if you spend enough time with him, he’s very obviously not a killer. He’s a selfish, insecure coward with a desire to come across as more important than he actually is.

He's cold and calculating, quite the tactician and ruthless when he wants to be. He prides himself on his skills as a thief. He's not afraid to kill, but finds it messy and "boring". He's prickly and hard to get close to and even harder to earn his trust, but he respects anyone who can best him, outsmart him, or shows strong sibling loyalty.
Potential CR wanted: Anything! He claims to be a loner, but he really needs a platonic companion. Anyone that might cause sibling feels or remind him of his sister. Someone to banter with or annoy him is also great!

Character Description: ok, so, this is an extreme tl;dr but: deely used to be in a cult, quite recently. the entire premise of the cult was based around ~accepting the fact that you're a bad person~ and was basically just sustained emotional abuse to reaffirm bad habits under the guise of freeing yourself from a fruitless obligation to self-improvement. deely knew that she was in a cult from the beginning and despite having several opportunities to leave and/or stop the cult leader from influencing susceptible people any more, she did nothing, because she felt that she personally needed what she got from the cult even though she knew it was hurting its other members. the cult fell apart after a missing persons investigation triggered police involvement and deely fell immediately back into her pre-cult bad habits. i'm thinking she likely got in a fight with someone while drunk and they pressed charges, which has her tossed into prison!
Potential CR wanted: i would love for deely to butt heads with more principled people who can fruitlessly try to improve her, but also anyone who's likely to try to set up their own lil cults that deely can squint at from afar to determine if they're destructive enough to risk getting involved with...craughs....i would also like for her to develop some really solid friendships because she has zero friends owing to being a serial user and terrible friend, sorry deely

Character Description: Sal is a young man who's life has been immersed in tragedy, starting with an event that left him permanently disfigured as a young child. While he himself has no supernatural abilities, after moving to an apartment complex with his father at the age of 15 for a new start and immediately becoming involved in the investigation of the murder of one of the tenants, his whole outlook on life changed. He and his friends uncovered a town wide conspiracy. A cult was operating beneath the depths of his apartment building and working to invoke an eldritch being through the sacrifice of various citizens. Ultimately, in a desperate attempt to save the souls of those who have been infected by the cult's darkness, Sal is compelled to kill each and every resident within his home: including his own family.

It's hard to trust what comes out of the mouth of this smart ass. But it seems that things have been weird around town ever since that storm, or, again, so he says.

What were they arrested for?: Multiple counts of murder, all done in a short span of time, so people call it a spree killing. Some of those are considered first degree, but most were second degree. He's done more than that but those were covered up.
How long is their sentence?: Life without parole. He owns up to it and pled guilty, but, y'know, he killed a bunch of people, they weren't going to let that go.
How long have they been at Obsidian?: Five months, maybe? I'm going to say he laid low for a while to get a lay of the land. ... And to sulk.
Character Description: Most of his backstory is cribbed from canon, just with a lot of changes to modernize it! And you know, lessen the whole magic thing FF has going on.

A Brit who traveled to the US with a bunch of his friends seeking work. Why didn't they stay in the UK or Europe instead? I haven't thought that far yet but Ardbert wont be divulging that sort of information to anyone anyway.

Because they didn't have a lot to their name, and because Ardbert is a softie at heart, they would take on any kind of job offered to them, especially if it meant helping other people. However, at some point, they started working for people who didn't give a damn about Ardbert's altruism and used them for increasingly illegal projects, culminating in the crimes that put him behind bars. Basically they set Ardbert up to kill one of his own friends for real specific reasons, but when he refused, they threatened Ardbert's friends' lives if they didn't make it up by assassinating a number of people, including some rich and famous folks-- which they did, even if with a lot of reluctance, and a lot of collateral damage.

But it really wasn't worth it because Ardbert's friends died anyway, except for the one friend who he refused to kill, and who knows where they are right now. Ardbert is still a good person at heart, but he definitely thinks he's right where he belongs for all the shit he did. He's definitely still in mourning and suffering from a lot of survivor's guilt enough that he's become more gruff and more abrasive with people.

As an aside, I'm still trying to figure out a last name for him, since he doesn't have any canonically given (I'm actually dubious as to whether or not people in Ardbert's OU world even has last names outside of a specific race). And pls excuse the lack of icons, I'm still working on them.

I'm also considering adding in a bit that Ardbert knows a little bit of magic, mostly to strengthen his body and shield himself.

Potential CR wanted:
- "Allies" he might have made during his time here, whether they're genuine allies or using him/using each other for benefits.
- I'll be real, it's more likely that people will just want to use him because he's a tough, scary-looking guy who can beat the shit out of others easily.
- Actual real ffffriends? Maybe? He does best with people to support, but he holds himself away from others emotionally after what happened.
- Enemies, pls.
- People who recognize him from before prison? Maybe? Ask him why he's behind bars now, when he used to be such a teddy bear.
